John Isaacs deals with hyperrealist and visceral sculptures which depict the human.animal body as horror like subject. He looks at our cultural and historical conventions. In this self portrait you see a beer-swilling Isaacs, replete with gold-plated hands, a potbelly and an illuminated head. The swan head copies an abandoned funfair ride in Treptower Park which hints to lost innocence. The boat represents Wagner's tale of Lohengrin, in which a knight quests for the Holy Grail whilst traveling in a boat driven by a swan. .
He was also studied biology which helped him look at mutations. Such as the top right image Bad Miracle. This scratches the surface of biological enquiry to reveal an uncomfortable situation.
