What I did today
I decided that I would work better if I got a bigger sketchbook. I invested to get an A2 sketchbook. Today I've been drawing my friend that posed for me.

I then drew them up and added certain things from the mill I visited. Next I shall get hold of a camera and take more photographs.

First initial drawings
I have now drawn a couple of ideas on my sketchbook. I have used my mate to pose for me so I could draw him into my work. My next plan will be to continue with ideas and rent out a book on poems/rhymes from the library.

Ideas
I have made a mind map to help me with my project. What I intend to do now is take photographs of my friends doing painful/disturbing looks to use in my paintings. At the moment I plan to use a story that I found in my Eugenics book about how a Mill in Sweeden hired healthy people (who had hardly any medical problems) to work for them. These people developed problems while working in the mill since the fumes would get to them, while they should of been given the right equipment for the job. I may also involve the idea that the workman doesn't have legal ownership to his body, which anyone could get legal ownership of it when they're dead.
Eturia industrial museum
I decided to go here to look at the idustrial like coal mine, that I could base my work around. I decided to choose a place that has a dark area.
Paula Rego
Paula Rego is known for her large scale narrative work which involve narrative pictures that compete for the attension of the viewer. These figures collect together many of the artists concerns at the time they were made. Like the surrealist arts, she wanted to find a way to link mind and hand that would go with gestures and conscious thought. This technique of her developed into pastel paintings called dog women. Regos friend sent her a letter containing a stroy about a woman living alone in a house which was surrouned by sand dunes. Due to the isolation the woman lived in she was driven mad, went on all fours and ate her pets. She then asked a model to pose for her in a squating postition. She then she her and used it for a starting point for her dog woman work.
The Body in Contemporary Art
I have rented out a book from the library that's about exploring artists that deal with the body as their subject. I shall look through this book and get hold of a few artists that look interesting.
John Isaacs deals with hyperrealist and visceral sculptures which depict the human.animal body as horror like subject. He looks at our cultural and historical conventions. In this self portrait you see a beer-swilling Isaacs, replete with gold-plated hands, a potbelly and an illuminated head. The swan head copies an abandoned funfair ride in Treptower Park which hints to lost innocence. The boat represents Wagner's tale of Lohengrin, in which a knight quests for the Holy Grail whilst traveling in a boat driven by a swan. .

He was also studied biology which helped him look at mutations. Such as the top right image Bad Miracle. This scratches the surface of biological enquiry to reveal an uncomfortable situation.
